I've lived in Northeast Kansas since I was four and have been lucky to watch the city I call home double in size since then. I wrote my first series about a bunny named Brittany in first grade. I was the person in High School and College who excitedly anticipated timed writings and paper assignments. All through school, I loved editing my peers' papers and speeches.
In 2010, I received my Bachelor's degree in Creative Writing with a minor in Women's Studies from Kansas State University. My plan was to become a professor in both and I still hope to obtain an MFA some day. It took a while for my love of reading and writing creatively, outside of school, to return. When I revived my passion for reading after having my son, I was transported back to summers reading Sweet Valley High and plowing through the entire Mary Higgins Clark collection in Junior High.
August of 2024, I began writing my debut novel and the words spilled out. After reading through my college writings, I found a book file where I had written some of the exact words in my novel a decade earlier. Somehow between parenting and owning and running a salon business, the last 20,000 words came in less than three weeks.
When I'm not writing or reading, I'm singing at the top of my lungs, taking care of plants, eating chocolate or creating one-of-a-kind songs to sing on my friend's Ring Doorbells.
